Justin Duft

Vice President, Advanced Planning

Justin joined Commonwealth in June 2007. As vice president of Advanced Planning, he is responsible for the strategic direction of the department, as well as providing a resource for advisors on issues involving trust, estate, tax, charitable, social security, business, insurance, and education planning. Justin has a JD from New England Law Boston, with a focus on estate, trust, and tax law; an MS in financial services from The American College of Financial Services; and a BS in business administration from Northeastern University. He holds Massachusetts life, accident, and health insurance licenses; the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional certification; the Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®) certification; the Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®) certification; a Master of Science in Financial Services (MSFS); and FINRA Series 6, 7, 24, and 63 securities registrations. Before joining Commonwealth, Justin worked for Renaissance Insurance Group as a marketing representative and held positions with John Hancock and Ernst & Young.

Heather Zack

Heather Zack, JD, LLM, CAP®

Director, High Net Worth

Heather joined Commonwealth in June 2011. In her role as director of high net worth, she empowers advisors to better serve HNW and UHNW clients by leveraging in-house resources, expanding services and capabilities through strategic partnerships, and cultivating the knowledge and skills needed to address these clients’ complex needs.

Heather earned an MS in financial planning from Bentley University; an LLM in taxation from Boston University, with a concentration in estate planning; a JD from the University of San Diego, with a concentration in corporate and securities law; and a BS in business administration from Endicott College. Before joining Commonwealth, she held positions at Bank of America Investment Services/Merrill Lynch and Investors Capital. Heather holds FINRA Series 7, 9, 10, and 63 securities registrations as well as the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®) certification.

Krista Teegarden

Krista Teegarden, CLU,® ChFC,® CPWA,® CSLP,® NSSA®

Team Lead, Advanced Planning

Krista joined Commonwealth in September 2018 as an advanced planning consultant. As team lead, she partners with advisors on wealth management strategies that encompass estate, charitable, education, student loans, business, executive benefits, and social security planning strategies. Before joining Commonwealth, Krista supported independent advisors by conducting research and analysis, along with implementing sophisticated estate and business strategies for HNW clients. In addition, she collaborated with attorneys to design and implement nonqualified plans and executive benefits. Krista earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance at Biola University. She is a National Social Security Advisor (NSSA®) certificate holder and holds the following certifications: Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®), Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®), Certified Student Loan Professional (CSLP®), and Certified Private Wealth Advisor® (CPWA®). She holds a California life, accident, and health insurance license, as well as FINRA Series 7 and 24 securities registrations.

Anne Fontanet

Anne Fontanet, LLM

Advanced Planning Consultant

Anne joined Commonwealth in July 2022 as an advanced planning consultant. In this role, her responsibilities include reviewing and summarizing plan and legal documents, along with reviewing planning objectives to help identify opportunities to meet clients’ needs. Before joining Commonwealth, Anne was an associate attorney at Gosselin & Kyriakidis and a law clerk for criminal defense attorneys at various law offices. She spent four years at University College Dublin in Ireland and Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas in France pursuing a double degree in comparative law and international law, earning the French and Irish equivalent of an American JD. She then earned an LLM in U.S. and international law from the Chicago-Kent College of Law. Anne is also a licensed attorney in New York and an enrolled agent with the IRS.

Aric Jacobson

Aric Jacobson, JD, LLM, CFP®, CEP

Advanced Planning Consultant

Aric joined Commonwealth in August 2020 as an advanced planning consultant. In this role, he provides financial planning support for advisors, including estate, trust, charitable, education, business, and social security planning strategies, and has expertise in equity compensation. Before joining Commonwealth, Aric worked for several financial service firms, including Edelman Financial Engines, Financial Knowledge, Pension Specialists, Optionwealth, and Ernst & Young. Aric graduated with a BS in biology from Tulane University, earned his JD from Tulane School of Law, and received an LLM in taxation from New York University School of Law. He is a member of the New York State Bar (retired) and the American Bar Association; is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® practitioner; has the Certified Equity Professional certification (CEP); and holds FINRA Series 6, 63, and 65 securities registrations.

Brian Fecteau

Bryan Fecteau, JD

Advanced Planning Consultant

Bryan joined Commonwealth in December 2024 as an advanced planning consultant. In this role, he is responsible for reviewing and summarizing estate plans and other legal documents to educate financial advisors, along with analyzing client planning objectives to uncover opportunities aligned with their needs. Bryan also coaches advisors on managing client relationships and collaborating with attorneys, CPAs, and other professionals, with a focus on strategic, big-picture planning. Before joining Commonwealth, Bryan worked as an attorney at Delaney & Muncey and Goodwin Procter LLP. He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and economics from Lehigh University and a JD from Boston University.

Dan Tocci

Dan Tocci, JD

Advanced Planning Consultant

Dan joined Commonwealth in May 2024 as an advanced planning consultant. In this role, his responsibilities include reviewing and summarizing plan and legal documents to educate financial advisors, reviewing client planning objectives to help identify opportunities to meet their needs, and coaching advisors to quarterback relationships with clients and other professionals (e.g., an attorney or CPA) so they can focus on the strategic big picture. Before joining Commonwealth, Dan worked as an associate attorney at Killeen Law Office and Alves Santos, P.C. He attended the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and the University of Massachusetts School of Law, where he graduated valedictorian.

Ivan Lancaster

Ivan Lancaster, JD

Advanced Planning Consultant

Ivan joined Commonwealth in September 2024 as an advanced planning consultant, supporting financial advisors with guidance on estate, tax, and wealth planning strategies. His work covers a broad range of topics, including trusts, charitable giving, education planning, business succession, and social security. Ivan brings specialized expertise in equity compensation and helps advisors interpret legal documents, identify planning opportunities, and navigate complex client situations. He also coaches advisors on client communication and partnering effectively with attorneys, CPAs, and other professionals to build integrated, long-term plans.

Before joining Commonwealth, Ivan worked as a wealth planner at Parallel Advisors, where he developed customized planning solutions for high-net-worth individuals and families. He also gained technical tax experience in the M&A tax group at KPMG, advising on the tax implications of corporate transactions.

Ivan earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of San Francisco and a JD from Golden Gate University School of Law. He holds the FINRA Series 65 securities registration.

Mike Baum

Mike Baum, CFP®, RICP®

Advanced Planning Consultant

Mike joined Commonwealth in August 2008 and served in a variety of roles in Operations before joining the Advanced Planning team in 2017. After nearly five years with Advanced Planning, Mike worked for three years as an advisor with WHZ Strategic Wealth Advisors before reprising his role as an advanced planning consultant in January 2025. In this role, he provides financial planning support for advisors, including estate, trust, charitable, education, business, and retirement income planning strategies. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Connecticut. Mike holds FINRA Series 7, 24, and 66 security registrations and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® (CFP®) and Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP®) certifications.

Morgan Macchiarulo

Advanced Planning Consultant

Morgan joined Commonwealth in July 2024 as an advanced planning consultant. In this role, she supports advisors by reviewing and summarizing plans and legal documents, reviewing client planning objectives to help identify opportunities to meet their needs, and coaching advisors to quarterback relationships with clients and other professionals (e.g., an attorney or CPA) and focus on the strategic big picture. Morgan brings specialized expertise in estate planning and business succession planning for HNW and UHNW individuals to the Advanced Planning team, assisting advisors in identifying and understanding strategies that may minimize estate and transactional taxation. Before joining Commonwealth, Morgan worked as an estate planning consultant for Cunningham & Associates. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and a JD from Boston College Law School.

Connor Rulnick

Associate Paraplanner

Connor joined Commonwealth in July 2024 as an associate paraplanner on the Advanced Planning team. In this role, his responsibilities include working collaboratively with advisors; helping with the development, implementation, and updating of financial plans; and assisting with client delivery as needed. Before joining Commonwealth, he worked as an intern at Atlantic Wealth Advisors. Connor graduated from Clark University with a BS in business management and an MBA.

Kevin Smith

Kevin Smith, CFP®, ABFP®

Private Client Consultant

Kevin joined Commonwealth in June 2020 as an operations support specialist in the Service Center. In 2022, Kevin joined the Advanced Planning team as a paraplanner and became a private client consultant in 2024. In this role, his primary responsibilities include managing and prioritizing advisor requests for support with HNW and UHNW clients, collaborating with subject-matter experts, and ensuring seamless experiences. Kevin graduated with a degree in chemistry from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where he authored “Nanophosphor-Based Contrast Agents for Spectral X-Ray Imaging,” which was published in the scientific journal Nanomaterials. He has CFP® and ABFP® certifications; holds FINRA Series 7, 24, and 66 securities registrations; and is pursuing a JD at the Massachusetts School of Law.

Ronnie Peck

Ronnie Peck

Associate Paraplanner

Ronnie joined Commonwealth in January 2021 as a brokerage cashier in the Cashiering department. In August 2023, Ronnie joined the Advanced Planning team as an associate paraplanner, bringing operational expertise and an advisor-centric approach. In this role, his primary responsibilities include providing financial planning support by assisting with plan creation, analysis, and recommendations for advisors’ clients. Before joining Commonwealth, Ronnie was a financial professional for Commonwealth Financial Group and a financial representative intern for Northwestern Mutual. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business management from Endicott College and holds the SIE; FINRA Series 7 securities registration; and Massachusetts life, accident, and health insurance licenses. Ronnie is pursuing the AIF® certification.
